Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice
If you tell us you are still gambling, that is health information about you, and the law treats it seriously. So do we. This is the whole of what we do with it.

1Why this is a separate notice
Washington’s My Health My Data Act requires any business that collects consumer health data from Washington residents to publish a notice about that data on its own, separate from its general privacy policy, and to link to it from the homepage. Nevada’s SB 370 works much the same way. This is that notice.
We apply it to everyone, not only to people in Washington and Nevada. It would be strange to protect one person’s disclosure and not another’s when they wrote us the same sentence.
Our general Privacy Policy covers everything else.
2What we treat as health data
We treat the following as consumer health data, whether or not a particular statute would require it:
- The answer you select for your connection to gambling on the guest form, including I am in recovery and I am still gambling.
- Anything you write in a message box about your own gambling, your recovery, your mental health, your debts, treatment you have had, meetings you attend, or harm to you or your family.
- The fact that you contacted a podcast about gambling addiction at all, where that is tied to your name or email.
We do not ask for diagnoses, medical records, prescriptions, biometric data or precise location, and you should not send them. We do not infer anything about your health from your browsing: there are no analytics, no advertising scripts and no tracking cookies on this site.
3Where it comes from
One source only: you, typing it into a form on this site because you chose to. We do not buy it, we do not receive it from data brokers, partners or other websites, and we do not collect it from any source you are unaware of.
4What we use it for
- To read your message and reply to you.
- To decide whether to invite you onto the show, and to prepare for that conversation with you.
- To point you towards a helpline or resource if that is what you have asked for.
That is the complete list. We do not use it for advertising, we do not use it to build a profile of you, we do not use it to train any model, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
6We do not sell it
We have never sold consumer health data and we will not. We do not exchange it for money or for anything else of value. Because we do not sell it, we do not ask for the separate written authorisation that a sale would require, and you will never see one on this site.
7Consent
We collect this only when you volunteer it. Nothing about your gambling is required to use the site, to listen, to read, or to get help: every helpline and resource we list can be used without telling us anything.
The guest form asks for your connection to gambling because the show is made of those conversations. You may leave the message box as brief as you like. Submitting the form is your consent for us to use what you wrote for the purposes in section 4, and you can withdraw it at any time.
8Your rights
- To know. Ask us to confirm whether we hold consumer health data about you, and to list who we have shared it with.
- To access. Get a copy of it.
- To withdraw consent. Tell us to stop using it, at any time, without giving a reason.
- To delete. Have it erased. We will delete it from our own records and instruct Brevo to delete it from theirs.
Exercising any of these costs nothing and we will not treat you differently for it.
9How to make a request
Email gamblingrecoverypod@gmail.com from the address you wrote to us from, or tell us which address you used. You do not need to prove who you are beyond that, and you do not need to explain yourself.
We will respond within 45 days. If we need longer we will tell you why within that first 45 days and take no more than 45 days more.
10If we say no
If we refuse a request we will explain why, in writing. You may appeal by replying to that email, and we will reconsider and respond within 45 days.
If you are still unhappy, you may complain to the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint, to the Nevada Attorney General, or to the authority for your own state or country.
